About the Artist
Kylie Haveron is an emerging professional artist, based in Ontario. She graduated with a BA Honours from the Visual Arts (Studio Art) program at Brock University in 2018. She is a multimedia artist, specializing in painting and drawing, and is known for her abstract, distortion, and figurative work.
Since graduation, Haveron has become extremely involved in the art community, being a member of the Hamilton Arts Council and the Federation of Canadian Artists, as well as being nominated for the St. Catharines Emerging Artist Award. Her work has been shown in many gallery settings, including her first solo exhibition, "Not Dark Yet" shown in The VISA Gallery in St. Catharines. She draws inspiration from her own life experiences, and explores human behaviour in connection with mental health, emotion, and identity.
"I use distortion in my figurative work to escape from the focus of physical identity, and to be able to show emotion rather than appearance. I make the interior of my subjects more important than the exterior. I let my hand flow when painting an individual rather than focusing on their physical qualities. My art practice allows me to see human behaviour through a different lens." Kylie Haveron
